Abstract:
|
Each file in this data set contains processed data from LANL's CO2/CH4/H20 Picarro instrument (G2301) during one flight of the GoAmazon IOP1 and IOP2 flight campaigns. Data columns include data and time (UTC), ambient pressure (torr), H2O concentration (volume fraction %), dry CO2 concentration (ppm), and dry CH4 concentration (ppm). In order to correct for drift and to verify precision, the instrument occasionally (once every hour to half hour) measured from an onboard calibration gas. The calibration method used was a secondary standard for CO2, CH4, and CO from NOAA. The concentration uncertainties in the calibration gas were +/- 0.1 ppm for CO2 and +/- 0.001 ppm for CH4 (by John Miller, john.b.miller@noaa.gov). Calibration measurements have been removed from the data after being used to correct for drift between flights. Precisions (1-sigma) provided by Picarro are < 200ppb for CO2 and < 2ppb for CH4 at constant pressure, and < 700ppb for CO2 and < 7.5ppb for CH4 with changing pressure (https://picarro.app.box.com/shared/s7965139q0). The precisions listed at the beginning of each file are based on statistics from the in-flight calibration measurements. For three flights (20140912a, 20140913a, and 20140915a), the calibrations were flawed due to a leak in the calibration tubing. The data for these flights were adjusted with calibration measurements from the previous flight, 20140911a, and accuracy is estimated to be < 2ppm for CO2 and < 5ppb for CH4 in comparison with other flights. The raw data is available upon request and interested persons should contact the lead mentor, Manvendra Dubey (dubey@lanl.gov), for more details on IOP data use for science.
